Troubleshooting: Prices Not Loading

What to do when stock prices are not updating, showing as zero, or displaying errors.

Common Price Issues

Prices Show as $0 or N/A

This usually means the ticker symbol was not recognized by any data provider. Check that:

  • The symbol is spelled correctly
  • International stocks include the exchange suffix (e.g., .L for London)
  • Crypto symbols use the -USD format (e.g., BTC-USD)

Prices Are Stale or Delayed

Market data may be delayed up to 15-20 minutes depending on the data provider. During weekends and market holidays, prices reflect the last trading session's close.

Market State Shows "Closed"

This is normal outside of regular trading hours. US markets are open Monday through Friday, 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM Eastern Time. Pre-market and after-hours data may be available depending on your data provider.

FX Conversion Issues

If a multi-currency portfolio shows unexpected values, the FX rate may have failed to load. Check the FX rates section in the portfolio detail view. The app automatically retries failed FX lookups on the next refresh.

Forcing a Refresh

Simply reload the page to re-fetch all prices from the data providers. The app does not cache prices for long — each page load fetches fresh data.
